Problem:
When you try to connect to the internet using your 3G capable phone, an error will occur:
Packet Data: Packet data not available. Check network Services
I got this error message when I was about to try the internet surfing capability of my new Nokia phone 6120c. I decided to bought this unit because of its fast modem. I will primarily use my phone to surf the net when I’m on the road and when I’m home because I don’t have an internet connection there.
But when i tried to connect, that Packet Data error appears. After searching the internet for almost an hour, I can’t get a definitive fix for that particular error.
Solution:
1. First, you need to make sure that you already set the correct settings for your phone to connect to the internet. In my phone, there is a Settings Wizard, so I used that one. (Menu - Settings - Settings Wizard - and follow the instructions)
2. If that one didn’t solved your problem, it would be better to call a Customer Service Representative of your provider/operator and asked them to send you the settings to be able to use/connect to the internet. In my case, it’s Smart Telecom here in the Philippines, so I dialled *888. Don’t worry, it’s free. The CSR will asked for your mobile phone number and cellphone model and they will send you the settings for your particular phone.
3. Still facing the Packet Data error? This third step solved my problem. Download and install PC Suite from Nokia website, fire it up and connect your phone to your PC. In my case, when I first ran the PC Suite software, it detected that my cellular phone is missing an SMS/MMS setting (or something like that). It gave an instruction how to install this using your PC Suite. Just follow it and you will be able to surf the net the next time you connect to the internet.
